One of the best summer trips is the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The BWCAW is an absolutely amazing adventure to go on with your friends or family. The Boundary Waters are an expansive area that covers over 1 million acres of wilderness area, within the Superior National Forest. The BWCAW is a protected area and is one of the most famous areas to canoe and fish. With over 1,100 lakes, it is a great area to travel and traverse and is one of the most popular destinations in the United States, but because of rules, regulations and the vast space, you will never feel crowded but more often alone.
